Services

Public sector and GDS services

We have worked inside government since 2020: the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Health and Social Care, HMRC, the Department for Work and Pensions, MHCLG and the Welsh Local Government Association. We know the Service Standard, the phases and the assessments, and we know how to get a multidisciplinary team through them.

We work in the open, in agile teams, with user researchers, content and interaction designers, product managers and policy colleagues.

What we do in each phase

  • Discovery. User and stakeholder research, as-is journeys and blueprints, problem statements and the evidence to decide whether to proceed.
  • Alpha. To-be service design, prototypes tested with users including those with access needs, and the artefacts for an alpha assessment.
  • Beta. Research and design iterations on the live service, service blueprints at programme level, and support through beta assessment.
  • Live. Continuous research, analytics and optimisation so the service keeps meeting user needs.

Assessments and standards

We have helped teams pass GDS alpha and beta assessments and we design to the Service Standard, WCAG 2.2 and, where AI is involved, the Algorithmic Transparency Recording Standard. We can prepare your team for an assessment or review your evidence before it.
